Product Description:
The Power over Ethernet (PoE) Kit is made up of an advanced Injector / Splitter. The Injector is auto-ranging on the input and has a regulated voltage output. The PoE Kit has overload and short circuit protection in addition to Ethernet surge suppression built-in, which will shut down power immediately when a short circuit is detected without any damage to the equipment. The PoE Kit is not a proprietary unit and will function with any equipment which is compliant with the IEEE 802.3af PoE standards. The power is supplied on Ethernet pins 4/5 (V+) and 7/8 (V-). The PoE Kit comes complete with a set of 4 AC power cords for use in most countries and a 12V DC power plug with a 2 or 3 pin industrial connector that connects directly to a ProSoft RadioLinx radio. The LED will be Amber until a >35mA current flows to the end device which will turn the LED to Green. This is a good way to remotely monitor the connection between the PoE and the end device and indicate that the end device is turned on. The operating temperature for the PoE Kit is rated at -10° to +60° C (14° to 160° F) and up to 90% humidity, so they perform reliably in outdoor weatherproof enclosures.

  • Using Power over Ethernet (PoE) to power remote devices has several advantages including:
  • Carrier Class" Power Over Ethernet System.
  • Power can be supplied over long distances, up to 300 feet.
  • Power can be available wherever network access is available.
  • The power supply can be centrally located where it can be attached to an uninterruptible power supply.
  • The user has the ability to easily power on reset the attached equipment from a remote location.
  • There is no need to run additional power cabling to the device as power can be supplied over the CAT5 Ethernet cable.
  • Used for remote mounted radios to save on cost of coax and reduce RF losses.
  • Built-in Ethernet Surge protection to prevent equipment damage.
  • Overload and Short Circuit protection.
